Purchasing Apprenticeship – Ipswich

We are seeking a motivated, organised, and enthusiastic Purchasing Apprentice to join our fast-growing team. Working alongside our experienced Procurement Specialists, you’ll develop a strong understanding of purchasing processes, supplier management, stock control, and business systems while contributing to the smooth operation of our purchasing function.

About the role:

As a Purchasing Apprentice, you will support the Procurement Team in ensuring products are sourced efficiently, stock levels are maintained, and customer requirements are met. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to learn all aspects of purchasing and supply chain operations within a thriving business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting Procurement Specialists with creating reports for ordering, stock management, and monitoring purposes.
  • Carrying out purchasing-related system processes, including tracking stock in transit, receiving goods into stock, and processing supplier invoices.
  • Liaising with the Sales Team regarding backorder enquiries, quotations, product pricing, and lead times.
  • Assisting with product creation and maintenance within our MRP system, ensuring product information is accurate and up to date.
  • Supporting the management of stock levels across multiple locations and arranging stock transfers where required.
  • Maintaining accurate records and ensuring purchasing data is correctly recorded within company systems.
  • Building effective working relationships with internal teams and suppliers.
  • Supporting other members of the procurement team and assisting with additional tasks as required.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Good numerical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.
  • Positive, proactive attitude with a willingness to learn.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Team player with a professional and approachable manner.
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Apprenticeship Training:

This role is offered as a Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship, with training delivered by WS Training.

As part of the apprenticeship programme, you will gain a nationally recognised qualification while developing practical skills and experience within our Procurement Team. You will receive structured training and ongoing support throughout your apprenticeship, combining workplace learning with dedicated study time to help you build a successful career in purchasing, procurement, and business operations.

The apprenticeship will cover a range of key business administration skills, including communication, data management, business processes, stakeholder relationships, IT systems, organisation, and continuous improvement.

Terms & Conditions of Employment:

Working Hours: This is a full-time role based on a 40-hour working week. Standard hours are 8:30am to 5:30pm, Monday to Friday, with a one-hour lunch break.
