Distag QCS acquires Douglas Pulleys business

The Distag Group, with locations in Tullow, Ipswich & Dungannon, have acquired the business of Douglas Pulleys, of Waterford, in Ireland
Distag QCS acquired Douglas Pulleys business from Waterford in Ireland.

For many years now, Douglas have been the ‘Go To’ supplier for aluminium pulleys and castings for
buyers across much of Europe. They have been manufacturing for more than 50 years, in Waterford, and have built up an enviable reputation for quality and service.

Distag are a leading manufacturer/distributor of industrial components, and supply Original Equipment Manufacturers, alongside a large network of aftermarket distributors.
Distag also have a long pedigree in V-belts – Pulleys & other components, having started the business in Ireland, in 1988; where the foundations of the Mechanical Power Transmission division were laid.

As such, the acquisition of Douglas is a natural, and logical, progression for them as they expand their
portfolio. Douglas will join a series of other highly respected brands in Distag’s power transmission portfolio, including PIX Transmissions, PowerDrive, and Sugiyama.

The full range of aluminium pulleys formerly supplied by Douglas will now be stocked and distributed from all three locations, in particular we believe this will be a significant advantage to our UK based customers, as product will now be available from Ipswich for next day delivery and avoid customs and VAT issues. It is Distag’s stated intention to continue the good work of the Douglas family, and to use its resources and distributor network to grow the business in the future. Distag will also retain the ‘Douglas’ brand name for the aluminium pulleys, providing continuity for this esteemed industry name.

Joe Deacon, Managing Director of the Distag Group, commented “We are delighted to add the Douglas
pulleys and castings to our range. With our locations, distribution network, and knowledgeable team, I hope that we can offer easier access to vital product in the future.
